Good; blue cloth with colour illustrations on front and spine; lettering in black and gilt. Some edge wear; spine ends bumped with a few tiny tears to cloth and just a touch of fraying; all corners lightly bumped with boards exposed and a touch of fraying. Some spots on boards; rubbing to cloth along spine edges; binding sound with a very slight lean. Brown end papers; black & white illustrations including map of Park’s route, tissue-guarded frontis; some smudges/age spotting; light scattered foxing and faded splash spot on outer page block; one stray pen mark noted; occasional straightened dog ear; a couple of short fore-edge tears (appears from opening pages). Mungo Park (1771-1806) was a Scottish explorer who travelled through West Africa and was the first European believed to have made it to the central part of the Niger River.
