Mershon, New York, no date but believe late 1890’s.  Hard cover, 222 pages.  Green cloth decoratively stamped in red and gilt; part of decoration repeated on spine but lettering is rubbed and faded.  Bit of board exposed at lower front corner; bit of wear at lower spine end.  Binding is somewhat loose with a lean; all pages secure.  Hinges cracked; gift inscription on front end paper; pages browning and becoming brittle; small losses in margins of a few pages, a few short edge tears; vertical tear of front end paper near gutter.  Believe a pirated edition.  Amusing story of some families in a suburb of London in the late 1890s, Victorian England, with their foibles and complications.
