Description

Scholastic, New York, October 1969, 6th Printing.  T 388, 50 cent cover price.  Soft cover, 218 pages.  Illustrated wraps show edge and cover wear, some chips, scratches and creases; tears at front top edge and rear fore-edge both of which have been neatly repaired; small loss to paper at top spine edge and along part of rear spine edge; binding sound and all pages secure; some age spotting/toning.  Outer page block tinted yellow, with some soil and fox spots.  Prior owner’s name inked in blue on verso of front wrap with some red inked underlines; remainder of interior clean and unmarked; some straightened dog-ears and corner bends, a few very short edge tears.  Illustrated by Ralph Ray.  ‘Hawk grasped the pup by the scruff of its neck and reached for his club.  This was why he had brought the animal home – now let him serve as food for a hungry man.  Swiftly, Willow snatched the pup from his hands.  Hawk got to his feet with a growl of rage – a woman had defied him!  “Do not kill it!  We have food!” Willow cried.  She rose and faced the enraged man.  But as she stared over his shoulders, her eyes widened in hear.  Hawk turned and saw the sabertooth tiger between them and the safety of their fire.’ (from rear wrap)
