Lippincott, Philadelphia, 1949, Second Impression.  Hard cover, 263 pages.  Red cloth with black lettering on front and spine; spine ends bumped with some wear, corners show some wear; some wear to top and bottom edges.  Illustrated dust jacket with price intact shows edge and cover wear, some tears and repaired tears on verso, some losses; all four inner corners have been clipped; pencil notation on lower inner front flap.  Front end-paper has been removed; binding sound and all pages secure.  One story near front of book has three pages with one sentence each underlined in ink, and one story near end of book has four pages with pencil underlines and a few margin notations; remainder of interior clean and unmarked.  Collected and Edited by Anna Pettit Broomell; Introduction by Dorothy Canfield Fisher.  ‘These stories which have the direct aim of making ideals of right living interesting, understandable and desirable to children are full of the adventure and imagination boys and girls like, ranging from encounters with “witches” and thieves to stories about Daniel Wheeler and Gandhi.  Not only Friends, but the wide circle of those who respect Quaker principles will find this book appealing and valuable.  Ages 8-12’ (from front flap)
