Description

Modern Library, New York, no date but gift inscription dated April 24th, 1927.  Green flexible covers, 255 pages.  Covers show some edge, corner and spine end wear, gold colophon on front cover, gold lettering and double rules on spine; bit of a lean to the spine; binding sound.  No jacket.  Monochrome end papers with gift inscription on FEP; remainder of interior clean and unmarked with lightly tanned pages; faded green top stain.  Dorian Gray, upon admiring a painting of himself, lamented that he would age but his portrait would remain young and beautiful.  Under the influence of Lord Henry Wotton, Gray begins leading a hedonistic lifestyle.  As time progresses, Gray does not age but his portrait changes, becoming more ugly with each excess.
