Nathan Simon, New York, no date but believe circa 1900.  Hard cover, with chapters 1 to 67 containing pages 1 to 655.  Purple cloth over boards with chipped and worn paper label on spine; edge, cover, corner and spine end wear, small tears to cloth at spine ends; some spots, fading and damp mark to cloth.  Binding with headbands, cracked at front and rear paste-downs with webbing visible, section containing prelims to page 1 detached with all remaining pages secure; top edge gilt showing a bit of waviness from water, fore and bottom edges untrimmed (some pages have not been opened).  Old water marks in margins, not affecting readability but pages are a bit wavy; some age spots.  Illustrations by “Phiz” (H. K. Browne); all illustrations present with printed tissue guards intact.  One of the first thousand impressions from a new set of plates, with publisher’s facsimile signature.
