Nathan Simon, New York, no date but believe circa 1900.  Hard cover, with chapters 1 to 65 containing pages 1 to 666.  Purple cloth over boards with chipped paper label on spine; edge, cover, corner and spine end wear, some board exposed at all four corners, cloth worn at spine head; some spots/mottling, fading and damp mark to cloth.  Binding with headbands, cracked at pp. iv/v, all pages secure, some discolouration from water; top edge gilt showing a bit of waviness from water, fore and bottom edges untrimmed (some pages have not been opened).  Old water marks in upper margins near gutter and lower fore-edge corners, not affecting readability; some age spots.  Illustrations by “Phiz” (H. K. Browne); all illustrations present with printed tissue guards intact.  One of the first thousand impressions from a new set of plates, with publisher’s facsimile signature.
