Description

Harry N. Abrams, New York and Amsterdam, 1955.  Hard cover, 178 pages including List of Illustrations, Bibliography of Picasso’s Graphic Work, Books Illustrated by Picasso, and Photo Credits.  Good; black cloth with white graphics on front board, white lettering on spine; binding with headbands a bit loose as rear hinge cracked with webbing visible but all pages secure.  Unpriced dust jacket shows corner and spine end wear, spine a bit darkened, covered with clear plastic which has a bit of soil; curled along top edge.  Prior owner’s name and date on FEP, some soil on bottom edge; remainder of interior of interior clean and unmarked.  A ding to bottom page block resulted in tears to three pages at bottom margin and corner creases; all pages at lower fore-edge corner show a faint bend.  Introduction and Selection by Bernhard Geiser, Biography and Documentation by Hans Bolliger, Translation by Lisbeth Gombrich.  ‘In this showing of 168 plates – which range from the very first etching he made, in 1899, up to a selection done in recent months … and the book contains a minutely detailed list of the prints which are illustrated as well as a list of books illustrated by Picasso.’ (from flaps)
