Description

Charles Scribner’s Sons / J. S. Reginald Saunders and Company, Canada, 1964, code A-Can.-March, 1964 on copyright page.  Hard cover, 159 pages including Study Guide by Mary A. Campbell.  Very good minus; a bit of edge wear, some mottling to cloth, binding tight.  Pencil erasure on FEP; remainder of interior clean and unmarked.  Short novel about an old Cuban fisherman, Santiago, who after a long stretch of being unable to catch any fish, goes out into the Gulf Stream off the coast of Florida and there struggles with a giant marlin for days.  The novel was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1953 and Hemingway was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954.
