Description

Tundra, Montreal, 1984, 1st printing.  ISBN 0-88776-162-3.  Hard cover, unpaginated.  Blue cloth with gold lettering on front and spine; light lower edge and lower corner wear, small tear to cloth on front fore-edge; slight flare to front board.  Old water marks on front and rear boards near spine; binding sound.  Illustrated dust jacket shows some cover wear with some rubs and light scratches, wear along all edges and folds, short edge tears, tiny losses at spine ends; sticker residue on rear panel.  Evidence of water damage visible primarily on verso.  End papers are illustrated Map of High Park in Toronto, with a bit of rippling near spine.  Interior pages are clean and unmarked but have rippling near spine from water damage and occasional small smudge.  ‘This book is a celebration of a great city park – High Park, Toronto – and indirectly of all our city parks. …  The text – a series of poems – also created by the artist is a paean to the park and the pleasure it gives.  Those poems, along with the 14 glorious oil paintings, make an unusual book of rare beauty that should encourage us to return to look at our parks anew.’ (from front flap)
