Red cloth with gilt lettering on front and spine; front board blind ruled, white stamped oval frame encasing black and white paste-on illustration. Corners and spine ends worn with a bit of fraying; some spots on boards and colour bleaching on rear board from water damage. Front hinge cracked, front end paper removed, some paper residue on half-title page and rear paste-down. Prior owner’s info inked on verso of frontispiece; foxing throughout, a few short lower margin tears, two short worm holes at bottom edge. Binding cracked in various spots with two illustrations loose; all other pages secure and all pages and illustrations present; some colour bleeding in margins of last few pages.
