Leather spine shows Holy Bible with Canada at foot of spine.  Front and rear wraps are missing.  Outer page block gilt; head and tail bands are present but show wear.  First pages are missing.  Title page is ripped and torn, taped to spine, with losses in several areas.  No date has been located.  The binding is cracked in a few areas, detached blue ribbon marker laid in at NT; pages show occasional age spots and marks; a few pages have tears.  OT consists of 987 pages.  Ecclesiastes Chapter 12, v 1-7 underlined.  NT consists of 302 pages; page 1 has the top third of the page detached at the gutter; underlines at John 3 v 16; John 6 v 35 and part of v 37; Corinthians Chapter 13; Ephesians Ch 5 v 23 & 25, Chapter 6 v 1, 2 and 4.  12 colour maps are located at rear.

This family Bible came from the estate of Harry J. (Jollymore) Clarke of Belleville, Ontario.  Laid in are two certificates of marriage for Harry Jollymore Clarke and Hester Alberta Thrasher of Sydnay (Sidney) Ontario dated July 18, 1894.  The Bible has a tooled and coloured leather covering which also shows wear and tear, with a brown ribbon marker.  The Family Register contains details of the marriage with one of the certificates having been affixed to the page at one time; Births are listed to July 1943; Marriages to August 1928, and Deaths to May 1977.  Title page for the New Testament shows The Musson Book Company, Limited, Toronto, Canada and London, England.  Verso of this page states Printed by Berwick & Smith, Norwood Press, Norwood, Mass., U.S.A.  Also laid in is a newspaper clipping of a young H. J. Clarke, stating that he became one of the high school teachers in Belleville.
