Boards bowed, old water issue has cause some lifting and rippling to cloth on front; some edge wear and small spots on boards. Gray end papers; front paste-down has a few spots and blisters. Interior pages show some smudges/soil, foxing, and some evidence of biopredation. A few straightened creases and corner bends; erased pencil marks in the bottom margins of pp. 18-19; one word on p. 79 corrected in ink. All pages secure. Black & white frontis of a bird on the wing, head profiles of two dogs in cameo on dedication page, plus four full-page illustrations by Henry Beech.
